Horrified

We just got back from our first class about child birth. All that I can say is that there isn't much talking going on right now because we are both terrified...the "I probably won't be able to sleep tonight" kind of terrified. Wow.

Formal Dining Room to Playroom

We are in the process of turning the (unused) formal dining room into a playroom. Ross recently painted the walls a deep mocha color and I want the furniture to be some shade of white or off-white to bring out the crown molding. Also, we took down the chandelier and replaced it with a fan. Here are some pictures of my furniture inspiration. I think that our favorite and most attainable option is some version of the green room.

Productive (and crafty) Weekend

Here's a rundown on our weekend:

I made this amazingly simple and cute earring holder for my sister. All it took was a picture frame, some picture hanging wire and a staple gun! Of course, Ross took these pictures...that's why they are good.

Ross painted the formal dining room, which will now be the playroom. We will be switching out the chandelier in the next few days.

I finished sewing the squares together for my brother's college graduation t-shirt quilt. It is still missing the borders though.

I started and finished a quilt top for our baby boy in one day (minus the border, which I haven't yet decided upon)! Ok, so it's no great accomplishment since it's all squares, but still...

The Sex Talk- A must read!

This is one of the funniest stories ever. When we were home last week, my dad was telling us about how he and my mom had given my brother the sex talk when he was younger. Apparently, he had been younger than they had expected when he began asking questions about it, but they went ahead and explained it to him anyway. Here's how it went.

Stephen: Where do babies come from?

Dad: Well, there is a contribution from the mommy and a contribution from the daddy...etc, etc, etc.....(Dad goes on to explain the whole deal.)

Stephen: Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. (a series of moaning) Oh my gosh. (Stephen rolls off the bed and lays on the floor moaning.)

Dad: Well, Stephen, that's just the way it is. It's nothing to be upset about.

Stephen: Uuuuuugggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......Oh my gosh......more moaning...I'm going to be SICK!

Dad: Stephen, what's the problem buddy?

Stephen: I always knew that I was inside Mommy's tummy but I never knew I was in your balls!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....Straight from the mouth of my brother.

28 week appointment

Today...

-Glucose test.
-Up 2 more lbs in the past 3 weeks.
-Baby is still huge.
-His head is measuring in the top 97%. Crap.
-Overall, he is measuring in the top 93%. Hmmm....C-section, anyone?
-He weighs 2 lbs 14 oz. Most babies are 2 lbs 8 oz.
-He wouldn't show us his face. He insisted on keeping his hand over it. I was sad.
-We are measuring 2 weeks ahead.
-Did I mention that he's huge?

Lake House Fun

Recently, my parents bought a little lake house near our hometown. In a few weeks construction will start to double its size as well as update some other stuff. I spent the last week there with the fam. Here are some pictures of the fun.

Family pics-
This is probably not the kind of "tummy time" that all of the books talk about :)

Brother's Quilt

I'm making my brother, Stephen, a t-shirt quilt for his college graduation present. Here's the start of it. So far, I've only laid it out. It still needs to be sewn together and given a border. Plus, if you notice, the middle has 5 blank white blocks. These will have college pictures on them.

Ode to Momma

The older I get, the smarter she gets. When I was in high school, my mother didn't know anything. Once I got to college, I started to realize that she was pretty smart. Now, as a semi-adult, she's a genius! I mean, for all intensive purposes, she's a doctor, chef, parenting consultant, pregnancy coach, psychiatrist, counselor, homemaking extraordinaire, gardener, etc, etc, etc. I love you, Mom. Thanks for all you do.

Kitty Love

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our kitties. Berkley, the male, is "Ross' cat" and Riley (or as I call her sometimes, Princess Riley Sophia) is "my cat." We got Berkley a few months after we got married and about a year later we got Riley! These are from last night.

This is how Riley likes me to hold her and, hold her I do...like 24/7. Isn't she SO precious!!!

Berkley likes to put his paws on your face for some reason. I'm pretty sure it is cat speak for I love you.
